Finance Factors and the Pearl City High School Music Learning Center to Host the 34th Annual Oahu Marching Band Festival

Finance Factors and the Pearl City High School Music Learning Center will be hosting the 34th Annual Oahu Marching Band Festival on Monday, November 2 at Aloha Stadium. The festival starts at 6 p.m. and will feature 11 high school bands. High school marching bands from Aiea, Castle, Farrington, Kalani, Kapolei, Leilehua, Mililani, Moanalua, Pearl City, Radford and Roosevelt will be showing off their marching and playing talents to spectators.

"While a band’s halftime show may only last 10 minutes, it takes countless hours of hard work and dedication by students and band directors to prepare for the performance," said Michael Nakasone, bandmaster of the Royal Hawaiian Band and one of this year’s adjudicators. "This festival provides the participating bands and its members a great opportunity to share their performances with one another, and to learn from one another so they can each improve upon and create an even more impressive show."

Each band will be performing their marching show, ranging from eight to 10 minutes in length. They will be adjudicated and given comments on their performance to help improve their show for future performances. This year’s adjudicators will be Nathan Stark, director of athletic bands at Boise State University, Keith Higaki, marching band director at the University of Hawaii, Michael Nakasone, bandmaster of the Royal Hawaiian Band, and Ty Lim, percussion judge.

"This is the sixteenth year Finance Factors has sponsored the Oahu Marching Band Festival and we are proud to support an event that truly showcases the talent and dedication of Hawaii’s youth," said Steven Teruya, president and COO of Finance Factors. "As a company, we believe in the importance of a nurturing educational environment, and this festival is an enriching experience for the participants and allows each of the bands to learn from one another and improve their performance."
