Finance Factors Hosts 14th Annual Charity Breakfast

Finance Factors announced today that its annual Charity Breakfast will be held on Friday, July 24, 2009. As in years past, the breakfast will take place in front of the Finance Factors Center, 1164 Bishop Street, from 6:30 a.m. to 9 a.m. For just $5, participants can get a local-style breakfast of Kukui Brand Portuguese sausage, scrambled eggs and rice. A total of 1,000 breakfasts will be sold with all proceeds benefiting the Kau Kau Wagon. Pre-sale tickets are sold out, but walk-up sales are available (limited to quantities on hand). The breakfasts sell out fast every year, and it is recommended that people interested in a walk-up breakfast come early.

Dozens of Finance Factors employees will be volunteering that morning to prepare and serve the meals, with Vice Chairman & CEO Russell Lau also on hand to help.

“This is our 14th year putting on the Charity Breakfast and through the years more than $75,000 has been donated to more than a dozen local charities,” said Steven J. Teruya, President and COO of Finance Factors. “Giving back to the community is one of Finance Factors top priorities, and our annual Charity Breakfast is a great opportunity for the company and its employees to support worthy causes, such as the Kau Kau Wagon.”

Guest Chefs Michael Arita and Erwin Manzano of the Pacific Beach Hotel will also be creating VIP breakfasts to be served in a special reserved seating area. Hosted by Teruya, VIP guests will enjoy gourmet, made-to-order omelets, fresh island fruit, Kukui Brand Portuguese sausage, rice, juice and coffee.

For more than 20 years, the Kau Kau Wagon has been providing food and other services to Hawaii’s needy, offering everything from a healthy meal to bus fare and medical referrals. Serving just 20 to 30 people when it first started in 1988, the Kau Kau Wagon has greatly expanded and now provides food, clothing and advocacy to approximately 200 to 300 people each Saturday at Chinatown’s Dr. Sun Yat-Sen Memorial Park.

Finance Factors has been providing financial services in Hawaii for more than 55 years. Started in 1952 by several island families, the company has grown from a small local enterprise that pioneered personal loans for Hawaii’s working class, into Hawaii’s largest locally-owned depository financial services loan company. Finance Factors specializes in residential loans for purchase, refinance, cash-out, and home equity, as well as commercial real estate loans. Finance Factors also offers some of the best rates on certificates of deposit and savings accounts, with deposits insured by the FDIC.
