Shimamoto Joins Finance Factors as Associate General Counsel and Compliance Officer

Finance Factors today announced that Nichole Shimamoto has joined the company as Associate General Counsel and the Compliance & Bank Secrecy Act (BSA) Officer.

With several years of legal experience in various industries, Shimamoto makes the move to Finance Factors after serving as BSA Operations Analyst at American Savings Bank.  Prior to that, she worked at the Hawaii Public Utilities Commission providing legal counsel.

Shimamoto holds a Juris Doctor degree from the University of Hawaii William S. Richardson School of Law, and a business degree from Georgetown University.  As the Compliance/BSA Officer, Shimamoto will be responsible for ensuring that the company meets all regulatory requirements and is in compliance with all banking laws and regulations. She will also be responsible for providing legal counsel and advice to the company and will assist in developing and monitoring internal policies and procedures.

A strong believer in giving back to the community, Shimamoto has volunteered her time with a number of different organizations.  One such organization is the Legal Aid Society of Hawaii (LASH), where Shimamoto volunteers her time as Treasurer to embody the organization’s vision towards building a just society in Hawaii through quality representation, advocacy, community partnerships, education, and outreach for Hawaii’s low- and moderate-income communities.
